1. The trading route of the Vikings from Gulf of Finland
Gulf of Finland – Puujoki Length: appr. 80 km

There was a waterway to the international tradingtown of Vanainkylä (Hämeenlinna) from Gulf of Finland upwards Mustijoki, continuing by Kaanaanjoki through Rutajärvi in Hausjärvi to Pursijärvi. The boats where moved from there by pulling over wooden rolls about a kilometer to Puujoki
Today the starting point of Mustijoki on Pursijärvi in Hausjärvi has dried into a brook which can be navigated by kayak or canoe, but in those days it was a proper route for the 10 meters long trading vessels of the Vikings.
